Identity for the City of Barcelona. The development of this was carried out considering four different levels or stages, in relation to a city's different needs: Branding, Operational, Strategic and Cultural. In this first stage the first two levels were developed. In the first place, the logo and brand for which geometry and the idea of assembly were taken as a basis. Barcelona is an eclectic city, of unity and cultural diversity stemming from its Catalan-Spanish identity. This idea of unity, or assembly of what's different, meets with the geometric and architectural symbols of Barcelona; the Eixample neighborhood, Gaudí's mosaics, and the characteristic panot that paves its streets. From these the basic shapes of a circle and a square are extracted, and with the union of these the "B "of Barcelona is finally assembled, forming the logo. Secondly, for the operational level a bike sharing system was proposed under the same branding, adapting the B of the city brand to a sub-brand; "BICI" which means "BIKE".
